HOMATHERM woodFlex® Protect is a high-performance natural insulation material with unique advantages, ideal for all-timber construction, suitable for floors, walls, and roof constructions which can alleviate the problem of summer overheating. woodFlex also provides excellent thermal performance (λr = 0.040 W/mK), as well as very good acoustic performance. Its ability to absorb moisture and then either pass it out through a breathing structure or release it back into the room makes it ideal for providing a stable, comfortable indoor environment – and provides long-term protection for timber structures. |
HOMATHERM woodFlex® Protect batts are medium-density semi-rigid insulation slabs made from wood chippings and 7 - 10% polyolefin fibres. woodFlex batts are free from Borax and Boric Acid.
The cellulose fibres enable the insulation to absorb up to 17% moisture without losing on thermal performance. And since moisture is absorbed by the insulation, not the timbers, structural timbers without preservative treatment can be used.
The polyolefin fibres enable the slabs to be flexible in all directions.
The density of the batts (typically 50 kg/m³) ensures superior acoustic performance relative to mineral wool insulation materials whilst the excellent specific heat capacity of the batts ensures that woodFlex Protect batts not only insulate during the winter, but also prevent summer overheating (2.4 times better than a mineral wool of equivalent density).
